Strathpeffer Spa Golf Club, founded in 1888, was originally designed with input from Tom Morris, the legendary St Andrews figure. Located near Inverness in the Scottish Highlands, the course is renowned for its spectacular scenery, offering panoramic views down the Peffery valley towards the Black Isle and westward to the Fannich hills. Peter Allis has described it as a jewel in the Highlands, and it is considered arguably the most scenic golf course in North Scotland.
The course features notably challenging terrain with dramatic elevation changes. A distinctive claim to fame is the first hole's drive, which features Scotland's longest drop from tee to green. The layout takes advantage of the natural landscape, providing golfers with both visual beauty and genuine difficulty. The setting combines Highland countryside character with an informal and friendly clubhouse atmosphere, reflecting traditional Scottish golf hospitality.
