The 18-hole Stone Mountain course features 5,319 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. Designed by Robert Nixon, the Stone Mountain golf course opened in 1991. Located in Traphill, North Carolina, the course is surrounded by views of the Blue Ridge Parkway, Stone Mountain State Park, Doughton Park on the Blue Ridge Parkway, and Thurmond Chatham Game Land.

Despite being short, it plays about 500 yards longer than the scorecard indicates with many elevated greens. The front nine is tighter off the tee with unique mountain golf holes; the back nine is a little more forgiving. As a mountain course, some holes rise or fall over 100 feet tee to green. The course presents a moderately challenging layout that requires accuracy from golfers of varying skill levels.

The course is known for its well-maintained conditions, particularly the quality of its greens. This short layout has 3 sets of teeboxes for a fun, but challenging golfing experience. Stone Mountain operates as a public facility and serves as a popular destination for golfers seeking mountain-style play combined with scenic mountain vistas.
