Standard Country Club is an 18-hole private golf facility located in Louisville, Kentucky, on approximately 150 acres along Brownsboro Road (Highway 22). The course was designed by renowned architect E. Lawrence Packard, with the original nine holes constructed in 1951-1952 and an additional nine holes added in 1960 to create the full 18-hole layout.
The course is situated on historically significant property that once served as a stagecoach stop between Louisville and Shelbyville, with an old family graveyard and occasional Indian artifacts found on the grounds. The terrain features rolling pastureland with multiple water hazards, including a signature lake hole that was enhanced during renovations in 2006.
The club underwent major renovations in 1995-1997, including the replacement of bent grass fairways with Zoysia grass and the addition of more water holes. The practice facilities were completely renovated and expanded in 2006. Beyond golf, Standard offers lighted tennis courts, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, and fishing docks on its extensive grounds.
