St Bees Golf Course is a 9-hole course situated on the West Coast of Cumbria on the shores of the Irish Sea, near St Bees Head. The course can be played as an 18-hole round using alternative tees for holes 10-18. It features small, challenging greens and tight fairways that demand precise tee positioning, with thick rough penalizing wayward shots. The layout begins inland before working toward the railway line and circling back along the coastline, offering spectacular views of the Irish Sea, St Bees Head, and the Isle of Man on clear days. The signature hole is the long par-4 fifth (14th), which runs along the cliff edge and is regarded as one of the county's most challenging par-4s. The finishing hole, a par-3 ninth (18th), is positioned beside the sea at the course's highest point, surrounded by pot bunkers with demanding wind conditions from the Irish Sea. The course becomes increasingly difficult in strong prevailing winds and is known for its stunning coastal setting combined with genuine strategic challenge.
