Located in Yiliang County, Yunnan Province, near Kunming, the Spring City Lake Resort Golf Club comprises two 18-hole courses situated along the shores of Yangzong Lake. The resort opened in 1998 as a joint venture between Keppel and the Kunming municipal government. The property features the Lake View Course, designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., and the Mountain View Course, designed by Jack Nicklaus. The Lake View Course is characterized by narrow fairways, deep ravines, and strong lake winds. Its layout includes terraced greens and water hazards that surround several holes. Notable features include the 5th hole, which requires a tee shot over a long, deep ravine to a fairway separated by bunkers, and the 11th hole, which demands the longest carry distance on the course over a massive canyon. The 9th hole is a short par-5 where the green is surrounded by water on three sides. The course is known for its challenging nature, with the 8th hole presenting a downhill approach to a green bordered by the lake. The Mountain View Course utilizes the natural undulating terrain to blend water views with mountain scenery. It features wide fairways that are relatively easy to find off the tee, but the greens are protected by numerous bunkers and rough. The 8th hole is a par-3 featuring a peninsula green encircled by water and sand. The 7th hole requires a tee shot over a man-made lake that spans the width of the fairway. The 18th hole, a par-4, is noted as the longest and most difficult par-4 on the course and has been recognized as one of the top 500 holes in the world. The resort has received significant recognition for its facilities. The Lake View Course was ranked 77th in the World's Top 100 Golf Courses for 2022-2023 and was named the 5th best course in Asia by Golf Travel magazine in 2022. The property also includes a practice facility and a golf academy that offers caddie training programs.
