Spey Valley 9-hole Academy Golf Course Top 100 Review

The Spey Valley Championship Golf Course is an 18-hole course measuring 7,153 yards with a par of 72, designed by Dave Thomas. Located within the Macdonald Aviemore Resort, the course meanders through ancient Caledonian pine forests and along the banks of the River Spey in the Scottish Highlands.

The layout combines heathland, woodland, links and inland terrain, offering breathtaking mountain views and challenging golf. Notable features include the 5th hole at 635 yards, one of Scotland's longest; the 6th hole spanning a lake used as a nesting site by birds; and the 16th, which presents a formidable water hazard lined with purple heather. The signature 18th hole features two bunkers designed to mirror the mountain corries beyond.

The course has hosted the European Challenge Tour's Scottish Hydro Challenge from 2009 to 2018 and has received recognition as 'Most Picturesque Golf Course in the UK' and 'Scottish Highlands Golf Course of the Year 2018' by Your Golfer Magazine.
