Silecroft Golf Club is a 9-hole links course located on the south west coast of Cumbria, adjacent to the Irish Sea on the outskirts of Silecroft village in the Western Lake District. The course occupies a strip of coastal land with 18 tees, allowing players to experience varied routing across nine holes.
Set against a dramatic landscape dominated by Black Combe and vast sandy beaches, the course offers exceptional scenic views across the Irish Sea towards the Isle of Man, with Barrow-in-Furness and Walney Island visible to the south. The opening holes are particularly notable, played with the sea immediately below and Lakeland fells beyond.
The course presents a challenging layout with no par 5s from the yellow tees and only one from the white tees, playing to par 68 and 69 respectively. It features well-designed par 4s and distinctive par 3s with strategic bunkering, particularly around the third hole. Wind plays a significant role in difficulty, with calm conditions offering a fair test for all handicaps, while strong winds considerably increase the challenge. The course record stands at 68, established over more than a century of play. Alternative tee positions add variety for the back nine routing.
