Selkirk Golf Club is a 9-hole course built in 1924 by legendary architect Willie Park Jr., located half a mile from Selkirk town, approximately 30 miles north of the Scottish border. The course plays to par 68 for men and 69 for women, stretching over 5,500 yards when played twice. Set in scenic Scottish moorland, the course overlooks the town of Selkirk and offers breathtaking views of the Linglie Hills and the sweeping landscapes of Ettrick and Yarrow. The layout presents a genuine test for golfers of all handicaps, demanding precision as errant shots land in gorse and heather. The signature hole, No. 8 ("Long Hole"), requires two excellent shots to approach a green hidden by heather mounds. The course features fine-quality hill turf fairways and greens of notable texture. Despite its modest size, it has hosted notable amateur tournaments and was praised by former Scottish Amateur and Walker Cup champion Dick Smith for its testing layout and undiscovered quality. The club operates on an honesty system with no permanent staff, allowing flexible tee times.
