Sapphire National is an 18-hole course featuring 6147 yards of golf with a par of 70. Designed by Ron Garl and opened in 1982, the course is located in the Sapphire Valley and Cashiers Plateau Resort area and features dramatic elevation changes with tranquil mountain views. The course has a rating of 69.3 and a slope rating of 119. Garl designed the course to create an exciting, innovative layout that employs the natural characteristics of the mountainous terrain and waterfalls.

The course received a prestigious 4½ star golf course rating from Golf Digest following a multi-million dollar renovation. Notable features include the dramatic par 4 13th hole nestled beside a majestic waterfall and the postcard par 3 15th hole that hosts an island green. The layout features scenic mountain views, dramatic elevation changes both up and down, lush forests, water features, and picturesque bunkering throughout. The course is the only golf course in the Highlands, Cashiers, and Sapphire region that is open to the public.
