Sanctuary Golf Course is an 18-hole, par-72 public course located at 485 North Marley Road in New Lenox, Illinois. Designed by architect Steve Halberg and opened in 1996, the layout traverses a former creek-side prairie characterized by scattered tree groves, wetlands, and tall grass. The course offers four sets of tees—Black, Blue, White, and Green for men, plus a dedicated Yellow set for ladies—allowing play from approximately 4,047 yards to over 6,900 yards. All tees, fairways, and greens are surfaced with bent grass. The course presents a significant challenge, particularly from the back tees, where the Black tees carry a course rating of 72.5 and a slope of 134. Water comes into play on 14 of the 18 holes, and the layout is protected by 68 bunkers. The front nine features a mix of par-4s and a par-3 first hole, while the back nine includes two demanding par-5s: the 587-yard 8th hole and the 545-yard 13th hole. The handicap index is distributed across the holes to balance the difficulty, with the 13th hole carrying the highest handicap of 18 on the Black tees. Beyond the 18 holes, the facility includes a 50-stall practice area with a bent grass tee, a short game area with a bunker, and an expansive putting green. The property also houses the Bunker Bar and Grill, which offers outdoor seating for players after their round. The course is managed by the New Lenox Park District and is staffed by qualified PGA professionals who provide instruction during the season.
