Rustic Canyon Golf Course Top 100 Review

Rustic Canyon Golf Course opened in 2002 in Moorpark, California, and was designed by Gil Hanse Golf Design. The course is an 18-hole championship layout built without detailed blueprints, with Hanse shaping the design organically from the natural landscape. The course features large contoured green complexes and sculpted bunkers that incorporate native barrancas, with the terrain dotted by sagebrush, cactus, native grasses, and oak trees.

The course is characterized by flat, wide-open fairways that fade into the surrounding landscape, with bunkers edged in thick fescue. The strategic design emphasizes ground game and bump-and-run approaches, rewarding golfers who position themselves correctly on expansive fairways to attack pins effectively.
