Rum River Hills Golf Club was designed by renowned Midwest architect Joel Goldstrand. The course offers varied design characteristics suited to golfers of all ability levels, featuring water-guarded greens and fairways alongside traditional rolling terrain, conservative greenside bunkering, and Goldstrand's signature undulating greens. The layout showcases diverse design elements that provide both challenge and accessibility.

The course has hosted numerous prestigious tournaments, including the 2006 State Senior Women's Public Golf Association Championship, 2005 and 2020 Senior Public Golf Association Championships, 1995 Minnesota PGA Senior Championship, and multiple Minnesota Public Golf Association events spanning from 1988 to 2017. The club has also hosted the Rum River Hills Scholarship Pro-Am annually since 1990.

Facility amenities include a professionally stocked golf shop, full driving range and practice facilities, PGA professional instruction, and complete dining and bar facilities at McDuff's Restaurant. The course accommodates groups ranging from small office parties to corporate outings of up to 150 people, with experienced staff managing event organization and execution.
