Situated on 600 acres in Île Bizard, Quebec, the Royal Montreal Golf Club features a 45-hole layout comprising two 18-hole courses and one 9-hole course. The property is characterized by gently rolling parkland terrain that connects the distinct layouts organically. The club, which moved to its current location in 1959, is recognized as the oldest continuous golf club in North America, having been founded in 1873. The Blue Course, designed by Dick Wilson and Joe Lee, serves as the club's premier championship layout. It is a demanding test that requires both power and control from the tee, featuring tiered greens that demand precision. The course underwent significant renovation by Rees Jones in preparation for the 2007 Presidents Cup, which included rebuilding greens, repositioning bunkers to accommodate longer hitters, and adding changing levels to several putting surfaces. The Blue Course has hosted the Canadian Open five times (1975, 1980, 1997, 2001, 2014) and the Presidents Cup in 2007 and 2024. The Red Course, also designed by Wilson and Lee, offers a true parkland experience with doglegs, strategic bunkers, and small, well-protected greens. It begins adjacent to the clubhouse and plays through tree-lined fairways, requiring finesse rather than power. The 9-hole Dixie Course provides a different character, featuring two challenging par-4 holes—the 432-yard third and the 448-yard ninth—and is known for being walkable and welcoming to beginners while still offering a test from the back tees. Royal Montreal holds a significant place in tournament history as the only international venue to have hosted the Presidents Cup twice. The 2007 event saw the United States defeat the International team, highlighted by Mike Weir's victory over Tiger Woods on the final day. The 2024 Presidents Cup was won by the United States with a final score of 18.5 to 11.5. The club has also hosted the Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship since its inception in 1901 and the Canadian Open ten times.
