Rocky Crest Golf Club is an 18-hole course located at the north end of Lake Joseph in the Muskoka region of Ontario, Canada. Designed by Thomas McBroom and opened in May 2000, the layout is situated adjacent to the Rocky Crest Resort. McBroom, a four-time winner of Golf Digest's Best New Canadian Course award, designed the course to celebrate the natural features of the region, noting that the use of rock is a strategic and aesthetic element that highlights the beauty of the Canadian Shield. The course is framed by giant forests of pine, white birch, and hemlock, with rolling fairways accented by deep bunkers and granite outcroppings that provide definition and challenge. The routing incorporates views, marshes, and abundant wildlife to enhance the playing experience. The clubhouse, designed to complement the cottage life of Muskoka, features a log structure with grand vaulted ceilings and the On The Green dining room, which overlooks the 18th green. Rocky Crest has received significant recognition since its opening. It was ranked number 20 of the top 100 courses by SCOREGolf Magazine in 2010 and was named the third best course of the modern era in Canada by Golfweek. McBroom has stated that the course generated the biggest buzz of any new course he has designed.
