Rockingham Country Club, known as "The Rock," is a public 9-hole golf course located in Newmarket, New Hampshire on Route 108. The course measures 3,026 yards with a par of 35, offering an affordable and accessible experience for both experienced and novice golfers since its establishment in 1933.
The course was designed by Manuel Francis, who worked under Donald Ross in the early development of American golf architecture. Francis was also responsible for inventing Vesper Velvet Bentgrass and pioneering turf maintenance equipment that became industry standard.
Set in the rolling New Hampshire landscape, Rockingham provides a relaxing playing environment characterized as enjoyable for all skill levels. The course record stands at an impressive 27, set in the early 1940s by then-PGA professional Les Kennedy, who later competed in the US Open and Masters tournaments. This remarkable record has remained unchallenged for decades, reflecting the course's design and challenge level.
