Rock Creek Park Golf Course is a 9-hole public course designed by renowned architect William Flynn in early 20th century Washington, DC. Located secluded within Rock Creek Park's hardwood forests, the course features 6,540 yards at par 65, with 18 holes available by playing the front nine twice.
The front nine presents relatively flat, open terrain with short par 4s and long par 3s, offering moderate challenge for most golfers. The back nine, currently undergoing safety renovations, features extreme hills and narrow fairways that make it significantly more challenging. The course was designed to accentuate the character of the site's former farmland and forest landscape, contrasting with Travis's design philosophy at East Potomac.
Rock Creek's setting emphasizes natural beauty, with mature trees blocking city noise and creating an escape from urban surroundings. The facility includes a free practice putting green, pro shop, and snack bar. Family tees are available to accommodate less experienced golfers. Currently, a limited 5-hole loop (holes 10, 11, 15, 17, 18) is playable while renovations continue on the back nine. The National Park Service and National Links Trust are collaborating to restore the historic design and improve overall facilities.
