The club itself has a long heritage, founded in 1893 as Southend Golf Club near Southchurch. In 1896, membership relocated to Rochford following an invitation from James Tabor, who funded the construction of the original eighteen-hole course. Today, Rochford Hundred operates as a traditional members' club with a welcoming atmosphere.
