RedTail Golf Course is an 18-hole championship course located at 8200 SW Scholls Ferry Road in Portland, Oregon, situated on 163.76 acres. Originally acquired by the city in 1954 as farmland, the property was developed to replace the closed 9-hole West Hills Golf Course. The course was initially designed by landscape architect Erv Thoreson and opened in 1968 as Progress Downs. In 1999, it underwent a complete redesign by PP&R Golf Manager John Zoller, transforming it into a 7,100-yard championship layout featuring a covered, lighted driving range. The course is named after the red-tailed hawks that nest in the surrounding trees. The facility offers WiFi access and maintains a no-dogs policy across Portland Parks Golf courses.
