Pukalani Country Club is an 18-hole championship golf course located in Maui's "Up-Country" region near Makawao, Hawaii, at approximately 1,100 feet elevation on the slopes of Mount Haleakala. Designed by renowned architect Bob Baldock, the course stretches 6,962 yards from the championship tees and plays to a par 72, featuring an unusual 19 greens across its 18-hole layout.
The course spans nearly 160 acres and was constructed in 1980. Set amid gentle hillsides, it offers panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and the Valley Isle of Maui. The course is characterized by challenging elevation changes and dramatic terrain features. Hole #3 is notably distinctive, offering golfers two contrasting options: a difficult iron shot across a ravine into the wind, or a challenging chip shot down to a well-trapped green several hundred feet below. This unique hole configuration is claimed to be unmatched elsewhere in Hawaii. The course's name, "Pukalani," means "Entrance to Heaven" in Hawaiian, and Mount Haleakala's Hawaiian name "House of the Rising Sun" is reflected in the course logo.
