Portsalon Golf Club is a historic links course located in Fanad, County Donegal, Ireland, nestled beneath the Knockalla mountains and stretching along Ballymastocker beach. Golf has been played on these links since the 1880s, and the club was a founder member of the Golfing Union of Ireland, the world's oldest golfing union. Originally designed by Charles Thompson of Portrush, the course has undergone significant evolution, with major redesign work completed by Pat Ruddy in 2000. The layout continues to be refined under the guidance of 2014 Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley. Currently ranked in the top 25 courses in Ireland by Golf Digest, Portsalon presents a genuine test of links golf. The course is characterized by its challenging coastal terrain and dramatic setting against the mountains and beach. Portsalon participates annually in the Donegal Links Classic, a three-day tournament shared with Rosapenna and Ballyliffin golf clubs.
