Port Hope Golf & Country Club is an 18-hole championship semi-private course located on the bluffs of Lake Ontario near Port Hope, Ontario, just minutes from Highway 401. One of Canada's oldest golf courses, it features 9 holes directly on the water's edge and is one of only five courses on Lake Ontario's shores in the province.
The course comprises 3 par fives, 10 par fours, and 5 par threes, with seven tee decks accommodating golfers of all abilities, from 4,253 yards (red tees) to 6,385 yards (blue tees). The design showcases bent grass greens, bluegrass tees and fairways, and quality sand bunkers set within a mature mixed forest on the historic Penryn Park grounds.
Notable features include dramatic elevation changes through rolling hills and bluffs, with Lake Ontario's views and ever-present winds providing distinctive playing conditions. A signature element is the 220-foot clear span bridge positioned 60 feet above four railway lines. The course was nominated for Golf Digest's Best New Remodel award for 2021/2022, reflecting its recent redesign that balances challenging play with scenic beauty and accessibility for all skill levels.
