Port Harcourt Golf Club is a historic golf course established in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, with origins dating back to 1928. The course was designed by Thomas Collins of C.M.S Book-shops and has evolved significantly through Nigerian history, including government land disputes and subsequent renovations.
The course features multiple holes, with historical references to hole 13 (Doc Elberts) as the opening hole and hole 7 as the original number one tee box prior to 1959. A notable signature hole is the "Allagoa Hole," named in 1971 after Honourable Justice Ambrose Allagoa, the former Mayor of Port Harcourt who successfully lobbied to preserve the course from government takeover in 1959.
The club obtained a 99-year lease and underwent significant development with support from major corporations including U.A.C of Nigeria, Barclays Bank, and Nigerian Tobacco Company Limited. The main clubhouse was rebuilt in 1971 and underwent renovation in 1988 by Eastern Bulk Cement Company and JGC of Japan.
The course is situated in Port Harcourt's Old GRA district and has hosted significant tournaments throughout its history, though the exact layout specifications and par details are not specified in available documentation.
