Porcupine Creek is an 18-hole championship golf course located in Rancho Mirage, California, on 230 acres outside of Palm Springs. The course measures 6,718 yards with a par of 72 and a course rating of 73.6 with a slope rating of 137. Designed by Tim Blixseth and opened in 2004, the course was created through collaboration of multiple design influences, drawing inspiration from elite golf courses and famous holes worldwide. The grounds feature nearly 75 acres of manicured fairways with classic sight lines, pristine turf and sand bunkers, rich water features, and dramatic Santa Rosa Mountain views.
The course presents a challenging layout that evolves throughout the round. The front nine plays relatively flat with water and bunkers directing play through narrow corridors. The back nine features elevated tee shots that increase in difficulty, culminating at the signature 15th hole—a dramatic 217-yard par 3 that drops 220 feet from an elevated tee to a wildly sloping green surrounded by desert.
Now operated as part of Sensei Porcupine Creek wellness retreat since 2022, the course is exclusive to resort guests. Play is limited with tee times spaced at least 20 minutes apart, creating an intimate experience. The course has never hosted major professional tournaments but maintains a storied history as one of golf's most exclusive and private destinations.
