Pohick Bay Golf Course, originally built in 1982, is located on the Mason Neck Peninsula in Lorton, Virginia. The 18-hole course runs 6,400 yards from the back tees and features bent grass from tee to green with a mix of poa annua. The course was designed by George Cobb and John LaFoy. With a 132 slope rating, rolling terrain throughout and several significant water hazards, course management is essential.
The signature hole 2 is a par 3 measuring 168 yards from the back tees, where golfers must lift their shots high over a deep ravine stretching from the tee box to just short of the green. Hole 18 is a par 5 measuring over 500 yards from the tips with a slight dog leg left. The course is known for presenting a significant challenge to golfers with its elevation changes and water hazards.
The facility includes a practice area with a driving range featuring sand traps, practice putting and chipping greens, and lessons from PGA professionals. The course also offers a fully-stocked pro shop and a full service snack bar.
