Plainfield West Nine is a 9-hole semi-private golf course located in Edison, New Jersey, at the corner of Woodland and Maple Avenue, across from Plainfield Country Club. The course features 2,503 yards with a par of 33.
Originally designed by prolific Scottish architect Tom Bendelow in 1898, the West Nine represents the remaining portion of Bendelow's original layout at what became Plainfield Country Club. The course is characterized by challenging uneven lies throughout and particularly demanding greens that test golfers' precision. Three par-3 holes each play over 150 yards, providing significant difficulty on the short holes.
The course utilizes natural landscape features typical of Bendelow's design philosophy, incorporating the rolling terrain of the property to maximum advantage. The semi-private facility is open to public play and operates year-round, weather permitting. The course has maintained its historical integrity while serving the local golf community, offering both recreational play and instruction opportunities, including junior golf development programs through The First Tee.
