The Perth Golf Course is an 18-hole facility located in Perth, Ontario, situated beside the Tay River. Established in 1890, it holds the distinction of being the oldest permanent golf course in Canada. The course is designed for golfers of any skill level, offering a mix of fairways, water hazards, and sand traps that provide both challenge and a relaxing environment. The layout is divided into two distinct nines. Three of the original holes, designed by local farmer Captain Matheson, remain in play today. These historic holes, originally numbered 1, 2, and 3, are now positioned as holes 1, 8, and 9 on the current course. The remaining holes were added to complete the 18-hole layout, creating a course that has aged to perfection over more than a century. The course is currently temporarily closed, with an expected reopening in 2027. Despite the closure, the facility remains a significant part of the local golfing heritage, maintaining its status as a key venue in the Ottawa Valley. The club's history and design continue to attract interest from golfers seeking a course with deep historical roots and a picturesque setting along the river.
