Palos Verdes Golf Club is an 18-hole championship course designed in 1924 by the renowned team of George C. Thomas and William P. "Billy" Bell, who also designed Riviera CC and Bel Air CC. Located at 6,480 yards, the course exemplifies classic 1920s design philosophy, emphasizing accuracy over length.

The layout features strategically designed holes that utilize natural terrain, barrancas, creeks, and hills while incorporating prevailing westerly ocean breezes. The front nine is notable as a "perfect nine," with no two consecutive holes sharing the same par. Thirteen of the original eighteen holes offer ocean views, a hallmark of Thomas's design work. The fourth hole, a steep downhill par 3, frames snow-capped Mt. Baldy during winter months.

The course presents significant challenges through small greens, extensive bunkering, and narrow fairways with strategic landing areas. Fairways and rough feature Kikuyu grass, while the firm and fast greens comprise bent and poa annua grasses. With six sets of tees accommodating all skill levels, Palos Verdes Golf Club balances accessibility with challenge. Members actively preserve the original design and routing. The course has been recognized as "the hidden gem" of Southern California golf.
