Modern Golf & Country Club is an 18-hole championship course located in Tangerang, Indonesia, designed by five-time British Open Champion Peter Thomson. The 6,350-meter layout is built for golfers of various skill levels, featuring wide fairways, long stretches, and strategic water hazards. The course is characterized by its unique character on every hole, with lakes, bunkers, and mounds placed to challenge players while offering scenic views of the surrounding landscape. The front nine presents a mix of testing par 4s and scenic par 3s. The opening hole is a 478-meter par 5 that winds through mounds and across a small meandering stream, ending at a tightly bunkered green surrounded by three connecting lakes. Hole 3 offers a picturesque 171-meter par 3 where a long lake covered in waterlilies stretches from tee to green, demanding accuracy to avoid the green-side bunker. The 7th hole, a 405-meter par 4, requires a daring tee shot to stay close to the lake on the left, with swaying grasses and groundcovers adding interest to the mounds and rough. The back nine continues the challenge with significant length and strategic hazards. The 14th hole is a demanding 517-meter par 5 that requires terrific accuracy and length, with the fairway winding tortuously through bunkers and mounds. The 18th hole serves as a tough finish at 500 meters, where the driving range forms a huge water hazard on the left, tempting players to the right where bunkers lie in wait. A small stream before the green adds another layer of difficulty for those attempting to clear the distance for a birdie chance. The course features multiple tee options, including black, blue, red, and white tees, allowing for varied yardage and difficulty. Facilities include an exclusive lobby, indoor and outdoor driving ranges, a pro shop, chipping green, bunker shot area, practice putting green, and locker rooms with hot and cold plunge pools and sauna. The design incorporates palm silhouettes and aquatic plant coverings, creating a distinct visual identity alongside the functional challenges of the layout.
