Owosso Country Club is a premier private 18-hole golf course located in Owosso, Michigan, a short drive from Lansing, Flint, and Saginaw. Founded in 1923, the course is celebrated as a notable achievement in golf course architecture. The first nine holes were designed by Tom Bendelow, a heralded course designer who also created Medinah Country Club and Olympia Fields in Chicago. The back nine was added later to complete the layout.
Situated on a bluff along the Shiawassee River, the course features magnificent, tree-lined mature fairways that provide an enjoyable test for players of all skill levels while maintaining tournament-quality conditions. The setting offers scenic river views and challenging terrain characteristic of the region.
The club boasts a rich tournament history, hosting two Michigan PGA Championships in 1955 and 1965. Notable golf legends including Walter Hagen, Arnold Palmer, Jackie Burke, Chick Harbert, and Walter Burkemo have played the course. As a member-owned club, Owosso Country Club emphasizes traditions of the game and serves as a family-oriented community for golf enthusiasts.
