Onneyu International Country Club is a 18-hole, par 72 golf course located in Rausan-cho, Kimitsu City, Hokkaido, Japan. Designed by Nobukatsu Marumo, the course opened on August 5, 1972, as the third hilly course in the Abashiri region. The layout is situated approximately five minutes from the Onneyu Onsen hot spring area, set against the backdrop of the Daisetsuzan mountain range. The terrain is characterized by a distinct split in difficulty and style between the front and back nine. The front nine holes are described as flat and spacious, offering a more relaxed playing experience. In contrast, the back nine introduces significant elevation changes and undulating terrain, designed to test a player's ability to manage ups and downs. The course features multiple tee boxes for each hole, including Blue (back), White (regular), Gold (front), and Red (ladies), allowing for varying yardages and difficulty levels. The total yardage from the back tees is 7,268 yards, with the front nine measuring 3,600 yards and the back nine 3,668 yards. Notable holes include the first, a 583-yard par 5 that plays downhill to a green with out-of-bounds risks, and the fourth, a 591-yard par 5 where the drive must navigate around trees on the right before opening up to a wide fairway. The back nine features the tenth hole, a 567-yard par 5 with a right-side bank out-of-bounds and guarded greens, and the sixteenth, a 590-yard par 5 that presents a rare and challenging downhill shot with out-of-bounds on both sides. The course is known for its high difficulty level, appealing to advanced players seeking technical challenges while remaining accessible to beginners. A distinctive feature of the club is its on-site natural hot spring, which was successfully drilled in 1991. The pure sulfur spring water is used for the clubhouse bath, providing players with a 100% natural hot spring experience after their round. The club operates on a self-play basis with GPS-enabled carts, a feature that was a first in the Abashiri region. The course is maintained under JGA rules, with local rules addressing drainage manholes and tree supports as dropable areas without penalty.
