Located in Hokusan, Shiga, Omi Country Club is a 6,800-yard, par-72 course designed by Shozo Uenishi and opened in October 1967. The 18-hole layout is classified as a hill course, yet it is characterized by relatively flat terrain with minimal elevation changes, a feature noted as rare for the Kansai region. The course is situated with views of Mount Omi (Omi Fuji) in the background, offering wide fairways that accommodate a full range of shot lengths. The front nine presents a mix of strategic challenges, beginning with a demanding par-4 first hole that requires a carry of over 220 yards over a mountain to the center of the fairway. The second hole, a 362-yard par-4, demands accuracy off the tee to avoid a fairway bunker left of the green and OB zones. The front nine also features two par-3 holes, including the sixth, a 172-yard shot over water to a two-tiered green, and the seventh, a 550-yard par-5 dogleg that offers a strategic choice of approach angles. The back nine continues the test with longer par-4s, most notably the 408-yard eleventh hole, which requires careful distance management on the second shot. The course concludes with a 471-yard par-5 eighteenth hole. The layout is designed to reward powerful hitters on the wide fairways while requiring precise approach shots and course management to navigate the bunkers and water hazards. The course features Bentgrass greens and is equipped with GPS navigation carts for all players.
