Built in 1987 by Dick Nugent and Bruce Borland, the Golf Club of Illinois is a links-style course located in Algonquin, Illinois. The course features high fescue grasses, treacherous sand bunkers, and strategically placed mounds throughout each hole, establishing itself as a stern test for golfers of all skill levels. The layout has been consistently ranked among the top 10 public courses in the Chicagoland area.

The course offers four distinct tee areas to accommodate varying skill levels and presents a full-size practice facility with both grass and mat hitting areas, plus a large putting green adjacent to the first tee. Notable tournament history includes hosting the 1990 Illinois Open Championship, won by Gary Pinns, who was the only player to break par.
