North Shore Country Club is an 18-hole golf course measuring 6,617 yards with a par of 72. Designed by Seth Raynor and Charles Blair Macdonald, the course opened in 1916. Nominated as one of America's Best Classic Courses, North Shore Country Club is nestled on secluded rolling hills overlooking the Long Island Sound, just 25 miles from New York City. Tom Doak undertook significant renovations to the course, re-doing the drivable par-4 seventh and changing the orientation of holes 1, 2, 17 and 18, with the new routing concluding with a short par-3 17th and a 630 yard par-5 18th.
The course features open fairways built among harsh undulations, often guarded by strategically placed ravines and cross bunkers, with putting surfaces that are firm and varied in shapes and size, featuring dramatic slopes and lots of pitch. The course rating is 72.3 and it has a slope rating of 130 on Bent grass. The diversity of the layout focuses play on strategic shot selection and ball placement, offering both easy and challenging approaches to the green.
