Marlborough
New Zealand
Nopera Golf Course is situated on a working farm in the Kenepuru Sound, Marlborough, and is the only golf course in the Marlborough Sounds region. The course is a compact nine-hole layout with two tee blocks for each green, with blue tees playing longer than red tees and offering different risk and reward strategies to golfers. There are four Par 4 holes with the longest being 327 metres, and five Par 3's.
The course offers difficulty due to the proximity of out of bound fences, trees and a deep creek that bisects the property, and lies across the road from the sea with areas of gentle elevation offering staggering views of the Kenepuru Sound and surrounding bush clad hills. The course features challenging "risk and reward" golf with undulating terrain, challenging sloping greens and new tree plantings. Notable holes include Nopera Heights, rated as the most difficult hole on the course at 327 metres.
Nopera Bay Golf Club is run entirely by volunteers who care deeply about maintaining the course to a high standard and continue ongoing development. The major annual event is the Bayleys Nopera Open sponsored by Bayleys Marlborough, held late February and attracting players from throughout New Zealand.
