Nong Samrong Golf Course

Nong Samrong Golf Course is a 9-hole, par 34 course located just north of Udon Thani and operated by the Thai Army. Measuring 2,345 yards from the white tees, the course features primarily par 3 and par 4 holes, with one par 5 finishing hole. The layout is characterized by wide fairways lined with trees and numerous water hazards throughout, creating a challenging experience for average players.

The course presents significant difficulty through strategic water placement and bunker positioning. Notable features include hole 7, which has a substantial slope from back to front with a 4-foot elevation change and is guarded by three bunkers. Hole 9, the only par 5, requires approximately 230-yard drives to navigate its 90-degree bend and subsequent water hazard. Most greens lack fringing, with surrounding grass effectively serving as fairway rather than rough, though some areas show patchy conditions.

Facilities include a driving range, chip and putting green, restaurant serving Thai food, and mandatory caddies wearing orange jackets. Club rental is available, and green fees of 250 baht include caddie service. While course conditions are modest by Western standards, it remains popular with both local and visiting golfers seeking an accessible golfing experience in the region.
