Nishi-Nasuno Country Club is an 18-hole championship course located in Nasushiobara, Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. Designed by the world-renowned architect Robert Von Hagge, the course was created to serve as an elegant sister course to the nearby Horai Country Club, while possessing its own distinct character and tactical demands. The layout spans 540,000 tsubo (approximately 176 hectares) at the foot of the Nasuki mountain range, utilizing the natural terrain to create a strategic and challenging environment for golfers of all levels. The course features Bentgrass fairways and tees, described by the club as a "green carpet," which allow for clean iron shots from the ground. The yardage varies significantly depending on the tees played, with the back tees stretching to 7,036 yards for a par 72. The front tees offer a more accessible length of 5,192 yards, also par 72. The design incorporates a mix of long par 5s and short par 3s, including the 13th hole, a 592-yard par 5 from the back tees, and the 12th, a 161-yard par 3. Nishi-Nasuno has established itself as a premier venue for professional golf in Japan, hosting the Japan Players Championship (JPC) by Satoh Foods. The tournament has been held annually since 2021, with the course providing a rigorous test for the tour's top players. The club's commitment to high standards was recognized in 2005 when the course ranked fourth in the "E-Z-GO Best 100 Golf Courses" ranking by Golf Style magazine. The design philosophy emphasizes a balance between accessibility for beginners and the strategic complexity required for championship-level play.
