The Nidom Classic Course is located in Tomakomai, Hokkaido, and features a massive 45-hole layout divided into two distinct sections: the 18-hole Nispa Course and the 27-hole Ikoro Course. The Ikoro Course is further subdivided into three nine-hole loops named Ashiri, Pirika, and Kamui. The facility is set within a forested landscape, with the name "Nidom" derived from the Ainu word for "rich forest." The course utilizes Kentucky Bluegrass for tees and fairways, and Bentgrass for the Ikoro greens, while the Nispa Course features Penncross greens. Players can access four sets of tees on each hole—Green, White, Gold, and Red—catering to athlete golfers, average players, seniors, and ladies respectively. The Nispa Course is designed as a tournament stage that has hosted major Japanese professional events, including the Japan Women's Professional Golf Championship and the Japan Senior Open. The layout is characterized by trees surrounding greens and water hazards that can confuse players. Notable challenges include the third hole, where the green is enclosed by forest, and the tenth hole, which tests players with its strategic demands. The course is known for its "beautiful and tough" reputation, requiring precise course management and shot accuracy to navigate the deep rough and firm conditions. The Ikoro Course offers a different strategic experience across its three named loops. The Ashiri loop features a fifth hole that challenges players with distance judgment, while the Pirika loop presents a third hole that tests courage. The Kamui loop begins with a first hole where wind conditions play a significant role in shot selection. The layout includes cross bunkers placed in landing areas and guard bunkers around most greens, with fairways cut to 18mm and rough to 34mm to create distinct playing conditions. The course has a history of hosting the Sam Snead Cup from 1990 to 1992, establishing its pedigree in professional golf.
