The course at Nagoya Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-70 layout located in Aichi-gun, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. Designed by Komyo Otani, the course opened in 1929 and is situated in the town of Higashikawa. The layout is divided into an out course and an in course, with yardages varying by tee color. From the blue tees, the course measures 6,557 yards from the C green and 6,410 yards from the N green. The white tees offer a 6,247-yard and 6,098-yard challenge, respectively, while the gold and red tees provide shorter options for varying skill levels. The course presents a consistent par-70 challenge across all tee boxes, with course ratings ranging from 67.7 to 72.6 for men and 74.0 to 79.2 for women, depending on the tee played. Slope ratings for men range from 134 to 142, indicating a moderate to significant difficulty level for the average golfer. The design by Otani has maintained its structural integrity for nearly a century, having survived significant historical events including the closure during World War II and subsequent reopening. Nagoya Golf Club has a rich tournament history, hosting major events such as the Japan Open Golf Championship in 1936, which was won by Miyamoto Rikizo. The course also hosted the Big Three—Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, and Gary Player—for a match play event in 1967. Additionally, it has been the venue for the Japan Amateur Golf Championship, with Morio Ouchi winning in 1976, and has hosted the Chubu Japan Invitational All-Japan Amateur-Pro Championship, which later evolved into the Chuden Crowns. The club continues to host the Asaka Cup and Higashikuni Cup, maintaining its status as a significant venue in Japanese golf history.
