Musashi Country Club Toyooka Course ☆ Follow

The Musashi Country Club Toyooka Course is a 6,838-yard, par-72 layout designed by renowned architect Seiichi Inoue. Opened in July 1959, the course is situated on flat terrain that disguises its difficulty through subtle undulations and a demanding array of hazards. The design features small, elevated target greens protected by deep bunkers and dense pine forests, creating a deceptive challenge that belies the course's calm exterior. The front nine presents a mix of long par fives and technical par fours. The 4th hole is a demanding 454-yard par 4 that requires careful club selection due to wind conditions, while the 6th hole is a par 4 surrounded by the course's signature "Alison" bunkers. The back nine continues the test with the 10th hole, a 544-yard par 5, and the 14th, a 445-yard par 4 that plays as the second hardest hole on the course. The 18th hole, a 451-yard par 4, serves as a strong finishing test with a slope rating of 128 from the black tees. The course has hosted significant professional events, including the 74th Japan Open Championship in 2009, which drew over 45,000 spectators. Previous major tournaments held at the club include the 35th Japan Open in 1970 and the 47th Japan Open in 1982, both on the Toyooka Course, as well as the 22nd Japan Ladies Open in 1989. The course features two sets of tees, white and red, allowing for varied yardage and difficulty levels, with course ratings ranging from 66.4 to 73.0 depending on the tee selection.
