Mount Macedon Golf Club is located in Mount Macedon, Victoria, and has a rich history dating back to the early 1920s when golf was first played at the site as part of a guest house complex. The course was formally established as Mount Macedon Golf Club in 1965-66 by local enthusiasts who rebuilt the deteriorated layout into a playable course, hosting its first Club Championship in 1973.
The club experienced significant tragedy on Ash Wednesday, February 16, 1983, when bushfires destroyed the entire course, clubhouse, and machinery. Despite this devastating loss, the club was rebuilt and reopened for play by the end of 1984, demonstrating remarkable resilience from the community.
The course is characterized as a small, community-focused facility that welcomes green fee players with no waiting times and operates on an honour system. The club has evolved through voluntary membership efforts, with notable developments including major clubhouse extensions and the construction of a 24-megalitre dam. Mount Macedon Golf Club remains an integral part of the local Dalhousie District community and contributes to Victoria's broader golf landscape.
