Mines Golf Club is an 18-hole, par 70 course located in Walker, Michigan, just outside downtown Grand Rapids. Designed by renowned architect Mike Devries, the course features 6,701 yards from the longest tees with a slope of 137, offering playability from four sets of tees to accommodate various skill levels.
The course is built atop gypsum mines that operated as early as the 1860s, with 110 feet of elevation change creating rolling fairways and undulating bent grass greens. This dramatic topography, combined with the natural landscape features, gives the course an "up north feel" despite its urban proximity. The design skillfully incorporates the site's geological history and natural undulations.
Mines Golf Club has earned recognition as a top public access course, ranking in Golf Magazine's Top 100 US courses under $100 (2024) and placing eighth among daily fee courses in lower Michigan according to the Michigan Golf Architecture Society (2025). The course also features The Pit, a 3-hole par 3 short course with a walking-only format, offering a practice opportunity within 45 minutes of play time. An on-site restaurant and event center provide additional amenities.
