The 18-hole course at Midorigaoka Country Club is a 7,209-yard par-72 layout designed by renowned architect Osamu Ueda. Opened on October 25, 1959, the course is situated in the Obata Greenbelt area of Moriyama-ku, Nagoya, in Aichi Prefecture. It is classified as a hillside course, characterized by its undulating terrain and numerous tee shots that play downhill. The club is located approximately 25 minutes by car from the center of Nagoya, offering a setting where the entire course is visible from the clubhouse and provides views of the city. The front nine totals 3,425 yards from the back tees, featuring a mix of par-4s, two par-5s, and two par-3s. The back nine covers 3,384 yards, including two demanding par-5s, the longest being the 548-yard 18th hole. The course includes a 250-yard driving range with 22 bays. The design emphasizes strategic play, requiring precision off the tee to navigate the sloping fairways and elevated greens. Midorigaoka Country Club has a significant history in Japanese golf. It was founded by Hirokobe Abé, who established the club as a public facility before transitioning to a members-only club in 1964. The course hosted the Kansai Professional Golf Championship during the era of the "golf mania" in Japan. In 1973, the club celebrated its 10th anniversary with a ceremony attended by Prince and Princess Takamatsu, along with various political and business figures. The club remains a member of the Japan Golf Association, the Confederation of Golf Associations in Japan, and the American Golf Association.
