Merchantville Country Club is a private golf club nestled on 40 acres in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, and stands as the 10th oldest golf course in America, founded in 1892. Located 10 minutes from Center City, it is easily accessible to the South Jersey region. The 9-hole golf course is easy to walk and can challenge even the best players. The course features 3,163 yards from the longest tees for a par of 36, with a course rating of 35.2 and a slope rating of 135 on Bent grass. When played as an 18-hole round, the course measures approximately 6,000 yards from the regular tees with par 72, and has a slope of 138 chiefly because of drainage ditches on every hole.
The course has 11 greens for the double loop 18-hole layout, with holes like #3 and #12 being completely different holes, while #4 and #13 share a common fairway but are played to separate greens. The engaging nine-hole layout is attractive to all levels of golfers with tee boxes for every skill level, featuring well-groomed fairways lined with towering trees and thick but manageable rough. Tournaments and leagues are hosted on a regular basis in season and are open to all skill levels. The club gained notoriety in 1910 when Merchantville's golf professional Johnny McDermott tied for first place in the U.S. Open.
