Merapi Golf ☆ Follow

Merapi Golf is an 18-hole, par-72 championship course located in Cangkringan, Sleman, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Situated at an altitude of 800 meters above sea level on the slopes of Mount Merapi, the course offers a unique highland setting with panoramic views of the volcano, the Yogyakarta hinterland, and the Indian Ocean. The layout stretches for 6,370 meters and was designed by the renowned golf course architects Thomson, Wolveridge & Perrett.

The course is known for its challenging hilly landscape, which incorporates natural volcanic rocks and undulating fairways lined with pine trees and local flora. The design requires strategic play, with bunkers and volcanic rock hazards demanding precision and smart club selection. Multiple tee boxes are provided to accommodate golfers of all skill levels, from beginners to professionals. The cool average temperature of 22°C and the mountainous weather add to the distinct character of the round.

The course is open to the public and is located approximately 30 minutes from the city center of Yogyakarta. Merapi Golf has established itself as a venue for competitive golf, regularly hosting premium tournaments and exclusive events. Notable among these is the Bulaksumur Master VIII, which highlights the course's role in the regional golf calendar. The facility includes a modern clubhouse with broad verandas, a pro shop, restaurant, and accommodation options, supporting its status as a premier golfing destination in Indonesia since its establishment in 1994.
