Menie Links is a par-72 championship links course stretching 7,428 yards, following a classical out-and-back routing of two nine-hole loops. The course was designed by renowned golf architect Dr. Martin Hawtree and opened on 10 July 2012. The course occupies a three-mile stretch of North Sea coastline on the Menie Estate at Balmedie, approximately 16km north of Aberdeen, where Hawtree routed 7,428 yards of golf through dramatic dunes reaching 100 feet in height. The course is built on a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).

Woven through the majestic dunes, the course rises to find panoramic views of the great North Sea and plunges into secluded valleys. Each hole has six separate tees catering for all levels of golfer, with bunkers placed to challenge stronger players without unduly punishing weaker golfers. The 14th hole, a 445-yard par 4, is the course's signature hole, where the tee shot descends to a fairway that ribbons through a valley of mighty dunes with the beach and North Sea creating the right boundary.

The DP World Tour staged the Scottish Championship at Trump International Golf Links in August 2025, marking the venue's debut as a host of a top-tier professional event on the European circuit. In the 2024/25 Golf Digest World's 100 Greatest Golf Courses ranking, the course placed 34th globally, with earlier 2022 rankings placing it 68th worldwide and 14th among Scotland's best courses.
