Maple Creek Golf and Country Club is an 18-hole course located on the east side of Indianapolis. Originally opened as Heather Hills Country Club in fall 1961, it was designed by Pete and Alice Dye as their inaugural 18-hole design project. The course was rebranded to Maple Creek Country Club in 1989 and is historically recognized as Pete Dye's first complete 18-hole course design.
Conceived by local businessman Tom Perrine as a family golf course, Maple Creek features a parkland setting with mature trees and rolling terrain typical of the Indianapolis landscape. The course was designed to attract amateur golfers from across the region and has maintained its community presence for over six decades.
In 2006, after financial difficulties threatened the club's future, owner Dave Bego commissioned Pete Dye to consult on course modifications, moving several tees and making adjustments while preserving the original design vision. The course maintains Pete Dye's signature design philosophy that made him renowned in golf architecture. Maple Creek serves as a testament to Dye's early career and remains a notable example of his foundational work before he designed over 130 courses worldwide, including several major championship venues.
