The Lake Taupō Hole in One Challenge is an iconic par-3 pitch-and-putt style golf facility located on the shores of Lake Taupō in New Zealand's North Island. Established in 1993, the course features three distinct holes set on a floating pontoon approximately 104 metres (113 yards) from the tee line. The three challenges include the Red Flag (the main target hole offering a $10,000 prize), the Blue Flag (a 30cm sand hole), and the White Flag (a 50cm sand hole). The facility sits against the dramatic backdrop of Lake Taupō, with views toward Tongariro National Park and Huka Falls. The course presents a unique difficulty level—while challenging for precision, the shorter distance increases hole-in-one odds compared to standard courses. The venue averages approximately one hole-in-one winner weekly. Originally a private venture, the facility became Ngāti Tūwharetoa's first tourism acquisition in 2017. Beyond traditional golf, the venue offers Ball Blaster (a golf ball launching gun) and night golf during summer months, attracting both locals and international tourists.
