Lake of the Forest is a 9-hole course featuring 3,360 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 35. The course was built in 1922 and is located in Bonner Springs and is a private course. The course features a unique, nine-hole, sand green, pasture golf layout. Rolling hills, a stream, strategically placed trees, grasses and boulders make this 3021-yard course fun and challenging to play.

In early 2014 the golf course was added to the Register of Historic Kansas Places and the National Register of Historic Places making it the first golf course in Kansas to receive this honor. The course is situated within a gated residential community centered around a 40-acre lake in the Kansas City metropolitan area, within reasonable distance of major highways and urban centers in Kansas and Missouri.
