La Plata Golf Course is an 18-hole public course located in La Plata, Missouri, developed over multiple decades through community effort. The course evolved from its 1932 origins as a 6-hole layout to a full 18-hole facility completed in 2000. The original 9 holes, established in 1933 with a par of 31, were constructed by local volunteers who drew lots for individual hole assignments. The course underwent significant expansion in 1967 with a longer, par-35 layout featuring seven parallel fairways. In 1990, 36 acres of additional land enabled construction of a new, safer design with watered fairways, greens, and trees. A second 9-hole section opened in 2000, featuring a tight layout with six ponds, eleven sand traps, and strategic mounding. The current 18-hole configuration combines both nines into a moderately challenging public course. Green fees are competitively priced at $15-$20 for 9 holes and $20-$30 for 18 holes on weekdays and weekends respectively, with cart rentals available.
