Kooringal Golf Club, located in Altona, Victoria, was established in 1946 as the Williamstown Golf Club and renamed in 1958. The name derives from an Aboriginal word meaning "by the water." The course features 18 holes, with the first nine holes hand-built by pioneering members using basic tools due to wartime shortages. The full 18-hole layout was completed by 1952. The club has undergone significant modernization, including a new state-of-the-art clubhouse constructed in 1996 and a contemporary pro shop facility with golf simulators added in 2016. Course enhancements were made in the early 2000s by Craig Parry Golf Design to address safety issues. In 2022, the club engaged Crafter Mogford Course Architects to develop a comprehensive Course Enhancement Plan. The club celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2022 and continues to offer comprehensive golf facilities including instruction, club fitting services, and junior development programs.
